In Virginia alone, there are over 75,000 underground storage tanks (USTs) registered with the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (VADEQ). The majority of USTs contain petroleum products including gasoline, diesel fuel, heating oil, and waste oil. As of 1988, State and Federal Regulations required all existing USTs to be upgraded to meet new technical requirements. These upgrades include corrosion protection, overfill protection, and spill containment. In addition, specific protocols must be followed during the decommissioning or removal of USTs.
OCW Environmental can provide turn-key services for UST removal, upgrade, or replacement projects. Our staff will oversee the permit application and regulatory notification process, removal and disposal activities, and soil sampling and closure report preparation.
